Donor Criteria, Screening, and Testing

Our Donors Make The Difference

Donors are the critical source for any research project. For years, we have recruited and developed our own healthy donor pool consisting of a wide range of diverse demographics and parameters. With 40 years’ experience in apheresis, we have optimized our procedures to minimize variability in the cell products generated from a donor.

Our Donors are Well Characterized

We perform serological¬†and infectious disease testing with each donation and track donor collection results, which gives us the critical information we need to hand pick specific donors to meet researchers’ needs. We know our donors through regularly scheduled donations.¬† Because of our long standing relationship with our donors, we can recall past donors for repeat collections. As a result, we have a “pedigreed” donor pool that is unparalleled in the industry.

Targeted Donor Selection (not for cord blood)

  • Healthy and non-healthy donors
  • HLA specific (low and high resolution) – Learn More
    • HLA Class I: A, B, C
    • HLA Class II: DRB, DQB, DPB, DQA
  • CMV negative/positive
  • Blood type specific
  • Diverse demographics, eg recent travel
  • Gender, race and/or age specific
  • Specific lifestyle characteristics, eg BMI, smoker/nonsmoker
  • Ability to provide both repeat or unique donors

Customized Collections and Cell/Tissue Processing

  • Protocol-specific collections – Your Way
  • Specific cell requests
  • Multiple cell types from same donor
  • Density separation of white blood cells
  • Positive or negative immunomagnetic cell selection methods
  • Custom primary cell cultures
  • Fresh or frozen cell formats
  • Custom cell number/volume per unit
  • Packaging and shipping to your specifications (i.e. shipping media, buffers, containers)

Testing

  • Serological Testing:
    • ABO/Rh
    • Red Blood Cell Antibody Screen
    • Anti-CMV (if requested)
  • Infectious Disease Testing*:
    • Hepatitis B Core Antibody (Anti-HBc EIA)
    • Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg EIA)
    • Hepatitis C Virus Antibody (Anti-HCV EIA)
    • Human Immunodeficiency Virus Antibody (HIV 1/2 plus O)
    • Human T-Lymphotropic Virus Antibody (HTLV-I/II)
    • HIV-1/HCV/HBV Nucleic Acid Testing
    • WNV Nucleic Acid
    • Syphilis
    • Trypanasoma cruzi Antibody (Selective Chagas disease testing, a single lifetime test per donor)

Need more testing? Let us know and we can perform additional testing to meet your needs.
*except certain disease state products

Note: Limited testing for cord blood.
